Malcolm Hughes Land Surveyors are one of the largest owner-managed land survey businesses in the UK.

We operate throughout the UK and Ireland from our home base in Manchester with 16 field survey teams and a dedicated 10 strong CAD office.

John Furniss, FRICS, FCInstCES: Managing Director

John owns and runs the company and has been with MHLS for over 30 years. John is the principal contact for new business enquiries.

He is a past president of The Survey Association and is a current TSA council member and chair of the Finance committee.

Nick Hampson BSc, FRICS, FCInstCES: Survey Director

Nick joined the management team in 1998 and has joint roles in operations management and business development. He is always keen to talk to clients about new projects or visit your office to discuss how we might help you.

Nick is active as a trained assessor for the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC), an APC Doctor and also as an ICES examiner. He sits on the Geomatics Global Professional Group Board for RICS.

Michael Rowan: Quality Manager

Mike has overseen our CAD office for 30 years and his key role in the business is to ensure that we deliver a quality product that meets clients' requirements.

He runs our quality management system and continues to develop our data presentation to keep up with current standards.

Steve Murray: Operations Manager

Steve joined the company in 1984 and progressed through the CAD department to become the CAD Manager. He has since moved on to become our Operations Manager.

Steve organises our work programme and runs the CAD office. He is responsible for ensuring that your data is delivered to you on time and keeping you informed of progress on your project.

Bernhard Becker, Dip Ing, BA, FCInstCES: Technical Director

Bernhard has managed the business in West Lothian since 1984. Bernhard is your principal contact for new business enquiries. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors and past Chairman of that organisation in Scotland. Bernhard is also a member of Geospatial Engineering Practice Committee of ICES.

Lyndsay Clark, MA: Data Processing Manager

Lyndsay joined the business in 1987 after graduating from Aberdeen University with a degree in Geography. She gained experience in the processing and presentation of survey data is now the Data Processing Manager for the company.

She has extensive knowledge of modelling software and the formats required by clients for topographical surveys and digital terrain models.
